The Oak Tree Of Peover Wedding // Rae and Adam

The Oak Tree Of Peover Wedding // Rae and Adam

Bride and Groom share a moment in front of The Oak Tree Of PeoverWhen I first met Adam and Rae I knew instantly that this would be a super cool, laid back and fun Oak Tree Of Peover wedding and it didn’t disappoint. Setting the date for Friday the 13th for most couples would be a complete no go but for Rae and Adam it just added to the unconventional elements of the wedding.

As mentioned, yes, these guys tied the knot on Friday the 13th. So hoping nothing could go wrong the day started with the bride and her bridesmaids arriving on a mini bus to get ready at The Oak Tree Of Peover. Upon arrival all was well up until the bride received a text message showing how one of the mini bus doors had fallen off. Yep IT FELL OFF! This was just the start of things that could potentially cause a problem as Rae informed me her dad was in hospital with broken ribs and a possible collapsed lung and may not make it to the Oak Tree Of Peover wedding!

Friday the 13th and The Suspense

Ceremony time rolls around and Adam nervously awaits his school sweetheart underneath an archway he hand made from copper pipe which was just one part of the details that the couple had made themselves. It wasn’t always that way though as we were all reliably informed during the speeches. Apparently Adam went to prom with another girl but left with Rae so it all worked out in the end.

Back to Adam waiting patiently and still unsure if Rae’s dad would be making it to the wedding and with 3 minutes to the ceremony he strolls in to the bridal prep room to give his daughter the biggest hug and to wish her luck before he takes his seat. Thats right he took his seat as another part of this non traditional day was that Adam was to meet his bride at the top of the isle and they would walk each other down to be married which I thought was such a beautiful touch.

Thunder Storms and Sunny Spells

The forecast had been threatening The Oak Tree of Peover wedding all day with rain and after the week we had with incredible weather it seemed nothing could put a dampener on the day. With glorious sunshine throughout the ceremony and drinks reception giving us plenty of time to explore the beautiful surroundings that The Oak Tree Of Peover has. The weather didn’t last but if there was a perfect time for rain it hit during the meal then cleared out for the speeches and the reception meaning everyone could enjoy the grounds again.

With the cake cutting and first dance appearing out of nowhere Chicks with Decks brought The Oakree of Peover Wedding fully into the party spirit keeping the dancefloor occupied well into the night.

Samlesbury Hall Wedding Photography // Kaylie and James

Samlesbury Hall Wedding // James and Kaylie

Newly married couple stand for portraits outside the front of Samlesbury HallNo words can describe this Samlesbury Hall Wedding better than utterly raucous. The entire day felt like I was shooting my best friend’s wedding, and I mean that completely truthfully. James and Kaylie were so much fun and were totally relaxed the entire day- a total dream to work with!

Samlesbury Hall Wedding in Lancashire

The day started really early- I’m told that the bride was up and ready to go close to 6am! I thought it was really cute that the animals joined in the party while the Bride was getting ready. They got ready at the family home while the boys got ready round the corner at one of James’ friends. I assure you there were a few tears from Kaylie and her Dad as they got ready to leave. It was really very sweet. A classic Bentley was the car of choice to take them to the venue, a really nice touch- it felt very traditional. Kaylie’s dress was amazing too with a beautifully long train. The bridesmaids were dressed in dark blue gowns, which complimented the purple colour theme perfectly and the flowers by Flowers in Thyme.

I thought the venue was incredible. Samlesbury Hall is a historic house, now hotel, in Lancashire not far from Preston. It is teeming with history- originally built in 1325 and grade II listed. It is typically Tudor with characteristic a black and white patterned exterior. I must say, the colourful wedding party looked fantastic against this back drop. Oh, and apparently it is haunted which is always fun, until you have to wander around alone looking for places for cool portraits. The weather started off great, but as the day went on it just got worse and worse and eventually started raining pretty badly but this didn’t phase Kaylie and James who were more than happy to head outside for some portraits.

Confetti And Giggles

The wedding party was pretty small with about 75 guests. I love shooting big weddings of course, but smaller ones give me an opportunity to get to know characters and take some wonderful pictures which reflect personalities. The ceremony was beautiful and was full of laughs and smiles and Kaylie and James were like uncontrollable school children with the giggles. The speeches later in the afternoon were fantastic too, and there were lots of tears from the Bride again but in the best way.

A wedding with confetti is a photographer’s dream- and I had such fun taking snaps of the newly married couple walking through a sea of purple confetti. These are some of my favourite pictures from the day, but I think the best ones have to be the ones of the couple next the red gypsy caravan outside. There is just something about the plain red background which really just let’s them and their happiness shine through. The entire day was colourful, laid back and fun from start to finish, and I can’t help but think that this is indicative of the couple themselves.

To Kaylie and James, thank you for having me and I wish you all the best in your colourful future which I hope is full of happy-tears just like your special day.

Best Wedding Photography 2017

Best of 2017 round up images

75 of my favourite images from an awesome 2017

2017 was a pretty awesome year and was incredibly busy. Not only in the wedding world but in my home life too. It saw me visit new venues and meet new suppliers and work with new and amazing photographers as well as having some of these guys come and shoot with me. It also saw the expansion of the team in the new arrival of my son Reuben. He was due the day of one of my weddings and in my busiest month however he arrived over the one weekend of no weddings, Cheers Son!

Wedding Industry Awards

In October this year I achieved a great success of making it through to the regional finals of The Wedding Industry Awards. Unfortunately I didn’t win the regional finals but to be recognised amongst some of the North Wests best wedding photographers was an incredible achievement.

Best Wedding Photography 2017

2017 saw me shoot some great weddings in manor houses, barns, Victorian swimming pools, marquees, gardens and houses, in the rain, in the cold and even in the rare British summer sun!

Anyway that’s me done waffling on so check out the slideshow which features loads of images from 2017 then my favourite 75 below!

San Marco Wedding Photography

Bride and groom kiss with smoke grenade

Natalie and Ste were my first wedding of 2016 and it was certainly a great way to start my season with thier Willows at San Marco wedding

I have known Natalie since high school. We drifted out of touch around 2003 when I started college but seemed to bump into each other every now and then. About 12 months before Natalie and Ste were to get married, I got a message out of the blue from Natalie asking about photography for their wedding. When we met up it was great to catch up and talk about old times but it was also great to meet her two little boys and her (at the time) Husband to be.

When Natalie and Ste decided they wanted me to photograph the wedding I couldn’t have been happier. I love weddings but to be involved with capturing the wedding of an old friend is something a little more special. Not only did it mean I could catch up with Natalie a bit more but on the day it also meant I got to catch up with some old school friends, all whilst working of course!

The day started off nice and relaxed at Natalie’s sister, Beth’s house. Arriving just in time to see McDonalds breakfast being delivered and Natalie being too nervous to eat anything. As the morning went on Alfie, Natalie’s little boy began to get excited for Mum and Dads big day and I think this wore off on Natalie. It was either that or the prosecco, because as the morning went on I could see Natalie relax and start to get giddy.

The service took place at the beautiful St Marys church in Horwich and then we moved on to The Willows at San Marco in Blackrod where the party pretty much started as we arrived courtesy of the amazing Alex Birtwell and Fantasticastle. The Bouncy castle went down a storm and not just with the kids. After the speeches Alex kept the party vibe alive and the dance floor full with some amazing tunes and even starting a dance off between the bride and groom.

It was such a great day and a great way to start my wedding season. Congratulations again to Mr and Mrs McHugh!
