Best Wedding Photography 2017

Best of 2017 round up images

75 of my favourite images from an awesome 2017

2017 was a pretty awesome year and was incredibly busy. Not only in the wedding world but in my home life too. It saw me visit new venues and meet new suppliers and work with new and amazing photographers as well as having some of these guys come and shoot with me. It also saw the expansion of the team in the new arrival of my son Reuben. He was due the day of one of my weddings and in my busiest month however he arrived over the one weekend of no weddings, Cheers Son!

Wedding Industry Awards

In October this year I achieved a great success of making it through to the regional finals of The Wedding Industry Awards. Unfortunately I didn’t win the regional finals but to be recognised amongst some of the North Wests best wedding photographers was an incredible achievement.

2017 saw me shoot some great weddings in manor houses, barns, Victorian swimming pools, marquees, gardens and houses, in the rain, in the cold and even in the rare British summer sun!

Anyway that’s me done waffling on so check out the slideshow which features loads of images from 2017 then my favourite 75 below!

Bolton School Wedding Photography // Kayleigh and Emily

Two brides share a moment at Bolton School

Back in October last year I had the absolute pleasure of being a Bolton School Wedding Photographer for Kayleigh and Emily on their intimate wedding surrounded by family and friends. This venue is such a cool space to get married and have your reception so when Kayleigh and Emily asked me I jumped at the chance to photograph their wedding at Bolton School. With parts of the building dating back over 600 years there are some great spots for amazing photos.

On the morning of the wedding I arrived at Kayleigh and Emilys home where they had decided to forego tradition and get ready together and spend their morning together sharing the excitement and anticipation. Not only did they get ready together but they both travelled to the venue together in a stunning retro VW camper van. Now I have a little soft spot for all things retro when it comes to cars so this was just an added extra to add to the excitement!

On the day its self the weather was perfect which is unusual for Bolton as most locals know all to well we don’t get much sunshine but it was almost as if it had been on order for the girls big day.

Make sure you check out their photos below!

2016 Wedding Highlights

2016 Wedding Highlights – A Year In Review

As we step into 2017, which currently looks to be a busy year with what will be some mind blowing weddings, I wanted to take a look back over 2016 which has been pretty awesome and really great fun. I have spent the year capturing some amazing weddings, working on some awesome shoots and working with some really cool people in some pretty sweet venues.

Not only this but I have developed my skills and kept learning from some of the best photographers in the country, taking time to attend workshops run by Neil Redfern, The Crawleys and The Lawsons. To continue learning in 2017 The Lawsons have taken on the task of mentoring so you should see more development and a few changes, all for the better.

Looking back through all the weddings I have had the pleasure of capturing was really fun but it was also tricky picking out my 2016 wedding highlights but I managed to whittle it down to the images below. I feel very honoured being asked to attend such great weddings and capture such great moments!

Not only have I had some great weddings but also been able to celebrate my sister in law getting engaged which meant heading out to Lancaster for a shoot and also heading to Stoke for one of my best friends pre wedding shoot after another engagement!

As we look ahead 2017 looks to be my busiest year yet with some amazing plans to drive me forward and to push my photography further. As I continue to grow and learn I thank all the couples who allow me to create and capture such beautiful moments.

If you want to see your moments and memories in my 2017 and even 2018 highlights when the time comes please do get in touch but in the meantime please enjoy my 2016 highlights.

Wedding Photography Bolton // Dan and Emily // A D.I.Y Wedding

dan-and-em-521-of-522

I have known Dan and Emily for a while now and when I heard the plans for their DIY wedding I got really excited! Hearing about a small intimate day with all handmade touches to put a personal stamp on the wedding got me thinking about all the creativity that would be flowing around the wedding.

On the morning of the wedding day I spent my time with Emily in her and Dans family home which was bustling with bridesmaids, parents and Dan and Emilys two little girls, one of whom wasnt feeling too well but it wasn’t something a little calpol and excitement couldnt cure!

I think Emily was a little nervous but as the ceremony came round this seemed to subside a little and then as she walked down the isle to meet Dan you could see the calm. As I said before I have known Dan and Emily for a while and it was an absolute honour to be able to capture thier day, the ceremony especialy. So much love and emotions poured into the ceremony and the vows written by both Dan and Emily just showed how much they are meant to be together. That paired with the way Dan looks at Emily with so much love and adoration, these guys are just perfect together.

After the ceremony everyone poured out of the church into the grounds of the village hall that had been decorated by hand and its not everyday you see a table plan made to look like a Dr Dre record with all the tables named after the tracks on the record but its these little touches that make a wedding. As the sun shone everyone enjoyed drinks out in the garden before an awesome meal of mexican street food.

Later on into the evening lots of friends of Dan and Emily took to the DJ decks to keep the party in full swing after some amazing live music from Northern Souls, and had everyone dancing into the early hours.

San Marco Wedding Photography

Bride and groom kiss with smoke grenade

Natalie and Ste were my first wedding of 2016 and it was certainly a great way to start my season with thier Willows at San Marco wedding

I have known Natalie since high school. We drifted out of touch around 2003 when I started college but seemed to bump into each other every now and then. About 12 months before Natalie and Ste were to get married, I got a message out of the blue from Natalie asking about photography for their wedding. When we met up it was great to catch up and talk about old times but it was also great to meet her two little boys and her (at the time) Husband to be.

When Natalie and Ste decided they wanted me to photograph the wedding I couldn’t have been happier. I love weddings but to be involved with capturing the wedding of an old friend is something a little more special. Not only did it mean I could catch up with Natalie a bit more but on the day it also meant I got to catch up with some old school friends, all whilst working of course!

The day started off nice and relaxed at Natalie’s sister, Beth’s house. Arriving just in time to see McDonalds breakfast being delivered and Natalie being too nervous to eat anything. As the morning went on Alfie, Natalie’s little boy began to get excited for Mum and Dads big day and I think this wore off on Natalie. It was either that or the prosecco, because as the morning went on I could see Natalie relax and start to get giddy.

The service took place at the beautiful St Marys church in Horwich and then we moved on to The Willows at San Marco in Blackrod where the party pretty much started as we arrived courtesy of the amazing Alex Birtwell and Fantasticastle. The Bouncy castle went down a storm and not just with the kids. After the speeches Alex kept the party vibe alive and the dance floor full with some amazing tunes and even starting a dance off between the bride and groom.

It was such a great day and a great way to start my wedding season. Congratulations again to Mr and Mrs McHugh!
