The Ten Best Lancashire Wedding Venues

Over the last decade I’ve had the opportunity to photograph weddings at many great wedding venues throughout Lancashire. I love this part of England. I’m proud to be a Lancashire wedding photographer having grown up here. I’m Lancashire through and through!

In both my personal and professional wedding photographer opinion, the best Lancashire wedding venues give you at least one of two things:

A real sense of our region’s history – like Samlesbury Hall, Beeston Manor, or Bartle Hall.

Or a sense of the independent, fun-loving spirit of Lancashire’s people and communities – like Wyresdale Park, Brockholes, or the Wellbeing Farm.

Either way, you’re going to enjoy a warm welcome, a proper laugh, great food, and some of the most beautiful landscapes in the British Isles. These are all the reasons why Lancashire is growing fast into the wedding capital of the north.

This selection reflects the best Lancashire has to offer. (I’m currently updating this page so will be adding more venues shortly)

1. Eaves Hall

Eaves Hall is one of several incredible venues owned by James’ Places (the others include Mitton Hall and Falcon Manor), but it’s my favourite, because you’ve got the place to yourself. 

Like, really to yourself – you get to fully take over this incredibly grand hall. There’s no fuss or weird vibes. You don’t feel like a visitor – it feels like you own it.

Elegant, beautiful, massive. Drink brandies in the snooker room while everyone’s getting ready in the morning, or take a walk through the tiered gardens. Trad but cool.

Photography Tip

Allow time in your wedding day schedule to make full use of the surrounding gardens. I’ve created many wedding day couple portraits here that my clients have loved! There’s loads of space to be creative, so whether you want something unposed and natural, or dramatic and creative, it’s the perfect choice.

2. The Wellbeing Farm

Love this place – and not just because it’s 10 minutes from home, either. The whole thing’s a little bit bananas. Whether it’s the llamas in bowties, the donkeys in flat caps, or the hall’s ceiling being lined with old parachutes, it’s safe to say you’ve never been anywhere quite like The Wellbeing Farm. 

They’ve recently won North West Countryside Wedding Venue of the Year at the Wedding Industry Awards, which is nice – and they’re B-Corp certified, which really helps to reduce the environmental impact of your wedding party.

Photography Tip:

The farm sits at the top of Wheatsheaf Hill, and you can see half of Lancashire from up there – it’s a beautiful view, great for dramatic couple portraits of group photos with half of Lancashire photobombing the backdrop. I’d recommend allowing a little extra time in the schedule to make the most of the space and scenery.

3. Gisburne Park

This one’s firmly in the ‘historic house’ category – it’s 1,000 acres of jaw-dropping countryside, but to me it feels like home. I pretty much lived there over the summer for a few years, shooting for the ‘Gatherings@Gisburne’ festivals. I know all the staff, and I know where (most of) the kettles are.

It’s the weirdest thing – you still feel like you’re out in nature, even when you’re in the house. I’ve worked on weddings there where the ceremony was outside, and as the celebrant started speaking, a herd of deer came right down the hill to check out what we were doing. It was a pretty special moment.

Photography Tip:

There are so many locations to choose from for couple portraits and group photos that you may want to have a think about your favourite spots in advance so that we can make the most of the wedding day. Outdoor ceremonies here don’t just feel amazing, they’ll look amazing in your wedding photos too.

4. Wyresdale Park

I still don’t know how to describe Wyresdale Park. It defies description. I just end up shouting words like ‘disco barn’, or ‘clock tower’ (or fairy-lit bell tent camping, gym, spa, chapel…maybe just check the website?)

In their own description, they say ‘most importantly, it’s a family home’ – and there’s an attention to detail and a pride in their wedding hosting that pulls all these wild features together, and gives it all that magic.

Photography Tip:

For your wedding photos, the rowing lake provides opportunities for some great photos (from a distance – I’ll be staying on the jetty, I don’t do boats – but long lenses exist thankfully).
