Malta Wedding Photography with Bellis & Bryant

Let’s talk about weddings in Malta. Sun-drenched buildings, blooming courtyards, and architecture that basically begs to be photographed. Charlotte & Alex’s destination wedding at the stunning Palazzo Parisio had all that – plus the kind of heat that melts your camera strap (and your face). But honestly? We wouldn’t have had it any other way.

As Bellis & Bryant, we were there shooting both photo and video, and it was one of those weddings that hits you right in the feels – a beautiful, honest celebration in a truly jaw-dropping setting.

Morning Prep Across Malta

The day kicked off with the girls at The Village Boutique & Spa in Naxxar – a cool, calm little spot where hair and makeup were in full flow thanks to Alan from Bold Studio Malta and MUA Jennifer. Charlotte kept things relaxed and low-key, surrounded by her bridesmaids Katie & Tessa and her lovely mum June. The vibe? All laughs, good tunes, and plenty of fan action (did we mention it was HOT?).

Meanwhile, Alex was getting ready in Valletta at Sally Port Suites with his groomsmen – a 20-minute drive from the venue, depending on the Maltese traffic gods. A morning of banter, buttonholes, and a few deep breaths before heading to the ceremony.

Charlotte’s dress from Romancia Bridal was pure elegance, and her hair and makeup managed to stay flawless despite the intense heat – impressive stuff.

The Ceremony – Pure Palazzo Magic

Palazzo Parisio in Naxxar is basically a fairytale wedding venue. Think Versailles vibes in the middle of a Maltese village – marble staircases, balconies, palm trees, ornate ceilings… you name it. It’s an absolute dream for any Malta wedding photographer, and even more so with a couple like Charlotte & Alex.

Guests arrived in the early afternoon, carefully dodging the sun as much as possible, and the ceremony took place in the palace’s stunning garden. Charlotte walked in looking like something from a Vogue spread, and Alex was beaming before she even turned the corner.

The couple asked guests not to take photos during the ceremony, which is always a win – everyone stayed present, soaking in the words and the setting. And then, right after the “I do’s”? The bridesmaids handed out petals and guests threw confetti as Charlotte & Alex walked back down the aisle – a big, colourful BOOM of celebration.

A Seriously Sunny Drinks Reception

We headed straight into drinks on the terrace – a mix of chilled cocktails, fizz, and much-needed shade under the parasols. Palazzo Parisio knows how to host, and the service was top notch. Alistair Floral Design had dressed the space with soft pastel blooms that tied everything together perfectly.

We took a little time for couple portraits in the grounds and around the palace – balconies, columns, and golden stone galore. And we kept it snappy because, did we mention? IT. WAS. HOT.

Still, Charlotte & Alex were total troopers. We found the best light, the coolest corners, and let them have a few quiet moments away from the buzz for their perfect Malta Wedding Photography.

Speeches, Food & Family Feels

After drinks, it was time for the speeches. Charlotte’s dad Steve kicked things off with the kind of toast that had everyone laughing and tearing up in equal measure. Alex followed with a heartfelt speech that showed just how much he adores Charlotte, and best man Tom closed it out with just the right amount of cheekiness.

Dinner was hosted by the venue, with food that was as beautifully presented as the building itself – classic Mediterranean flavours, cooling drinks, and that unbeatable golden-hour glow. Honestly, every table setting looked like a magazine cover.

The guests kept things relaxed and intimate – just 36 people in total, which made the whole day feel like one big family dinner in a palace courtyard. Because, well, it was.

Evening Vibes & The Big Send-Off

As the sun set, things kicked up a gear. First came cake (from Palazzo Parisio), then the first dance – “Slide Away” by Noel Gallagher (live version, of course). Just the right mix of indie nostalgia and romance.

Charlotte & Alex had planned a fun twist at the end of the night – they left the party 10 minutes before everyone else so the guests could wave them off in style. Such a great way to make the exit feel like a moment, not just a taxi call.

And while there was talk of sparklers, the sunset and warm evening air provided more than enough atmosphere.

Destination Weddings Done Right

This wedding was a textbook example of how to do a destination wedding your way – small guest list, big setting, and lots of personality. Charlotte & Alex didn’t try to over-style or over-plan. They trusted the venue, the team, and each other – and the result was one of the most beautiful weddings we’ve ever been part of.

As a team shooting both photo and video, we had full access to all the moments, big and small – and there were plenty. From the sweltering morning prep to the dreamy golden-hour portraits, this was a day we won’t forget any time soon.
